1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Kinroot ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

Kinroot is a household operating system for parents who carry the mental load—single parents, stay-at-home parents, working parents, partnered parents, and blended families—to manage their households, schedules, meals, and community connections. The Service is provided by Kinroot ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Description of Service

Kinroot provides a household operating system for parents, including but not limited to:

Calendar and event management
Meal planning and shopping list generation
Children profile management (data you own and manage)
Task and activity tracking
Community discovery and messaging (Village Network)
Dashboard with schedule, meal, and task overviews

Important: Children profiles are data entries that you, the parent, create and manage. Children are not users of the platform and do not have accounts or login credentials.

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

You must create an account to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

3.3 Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old.

4. Subscription Plans and Payments

4.1 Subscription Tiers

Kinroot offers multiple subscription tiers:

Free: Basic features with limitations
Plus ($12.99/month): Full access to all core features
Premium Plus ($24.99/month): AI-powered features and advanced analytics

4.2 Billing

Subscription fees are billed in advance on a monthly basis. All fees are non-refundable except as required by law. We use Stripe for payment processing and do not store your payment information.

4.3 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Subscription Management page in Settings. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period.

4.4 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change our subscription fees with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.

5. Children's Data and Privacy

5.1 Ownership and Control

You retain full ownership and control of all data related to children profiles you create. Children are not users and do not have access to the Service.

5.2 COPPA Compliance

Because children do not use or access the Service, COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) requirements for obtaining verifiable parental consent do not apply. You, the parent, are the sole user and controller of all data.

5.3 Data Responsibility

You are responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of all information you enter about your children. You agree not to share children's data with unauthorized third parties through the Service.

6. Village Network - Community Features

6.1 Community Guidelines

The Village Network allows you to discover and connect with other parents. You agree to:

Treat other users with respect and kindness
Not harass, bully, or threaten other users
Not share inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content
Not impersonate others or create fake profiles
Respect others' privacy and boundaries

6.2 Location Privacy

Your exact location is never shared publicly. We use fuzzy geolocation (randomized within approximately 3 miles) to protect your privacy while enabling local connections.

6.3 Content Moderation

We reserve the right to review, moderate, or remove any user-generated content that violates these Terms or our community guidelines.

7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
Violate the rights of others, including privacy and intellectual property rights
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) without our written permission
Transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code
Collect or harvest user data without consent

8. Intellectual Property

8.1 Our Rights

The Service, including all content, features, and functionality, is owned by Kinroot and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

8.2 Your Rights

You retain all rights to the content you create and upload to the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to use, store, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

9. Data Export and Account Deletion

9.1 Data Export

You may export all of your data at any time through the Settings page. Exported data includes your profile, children profiles, events, meals, tasks, messages, and subscription history.

9.2 Account Deletion

You may permanently delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Account deletion is irreversible and will result in the permanent loss of all your data.

10. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

10.1 Service "As Is"

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

10.2 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KINROOT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

10.3 Not Professional Advice

The Service is a productivity tool and does not provide professional parenting, medical, legal, or financial advice. You should consult appropriate professionals for such advice.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties, or for any other reason in our sole discretion.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after such notification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
